Visit Cedar Hill

1 of 6

Description:

LatinFest: From Vision to Fruition. The first-ever Latin festival in the City of Cedar Hill. A unique event not only for entertainment but also education on Latin American countries.

https://visitcedarhilltx.com/320/LatinFest-2022

Objectives:

The Hispanic population in Cedar Hill has seen consistent growth and there was no city event to celebrate this large population of our city. My vision that came to life only due to the support of fellow city staff included the following aspects of the event:
* Family entertainment with the headlining performance being theS elena Tribute Band, which is fun for he whole family.
* Education of our most prominent Hispanic origins in Cedar Hill (Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, El Salvador, Peru, and Honduras) and 10 other countries. Education was accomplished by Country Boards that were spread throughout the Vendor Expo which educated the public on the respective country's President, flag, currency, population, fun facts, and images from that country.
* A passport was designed to promote the vendors at the expo and tell the public about our City Councilmembers as well as our Mayor appointed Latino Engagement Group
* A Kidzone for the kids to have fun in inflatables and a sand pit, which was the most popular area! Overall, being able to showcase the Latin American heritage was significant throughout the entire event, and for the first year's event, we had over 5,000 people attend. It was the biggest event of the City of Cedar Hill for 2022.

Giddings Chamber of Commerce

1 of 5
Description:
Freedom Fest music festival is a night of free music at the local Veterans Park on July 3rd with local bands. The Chamber of Commerce partners with the Veterans Association, City of Giddings, and local musicians to create an evening of enjoyment for the community and visitors. Support has grown in public attendance of 500 to nearly 2000, which inspired the City to add a new Splashpad and cornhole equipment to the area. The Giddings Volunteer Fire Department and Lee County Sheriffs Posse Rodeo who hold their annual fourth of July bullriding and fireworks also benefit as partners, as the music fest creates a two-day holiday spectacular which encourages more people to stay in town or to make Giddings a holiday destination.

Objectives:
The objective of Freedom Fest is to give the community the atmosphere of the good old days when folks gathered in their neighborhood to fellowship and enjoy music in the park. It allows local organizations the opportunity to connect with the community in a relaxed setting and gives families a wholesome activity as a group, even the chance to include beloved pets. It supports and honors our local veterans and country, fostering the feelings of patriotism and pride within the community. Citizens and visitors also enjoy the Honor Memorial onsite, dedicated to Lee County Veterans along with a display of 3 military vehicles.

Project Costs:
The Giddings Chamber pays $4800 for expenses including renting trash cans, portapotties, and to compensate the bands. $1000 is spent on advertising which includes Radio, Facebook & social media, newspapers (local and out of county) and magazines including Round Top and Show Daily.
